And as usual, Android users get the crap end of the deal. Hey Intuit, why is alway iOS who gets all the features?

    • Kevin Says:

      Hey Mario,

Android users also have an app optimized for the tablet. Please check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intuit.quickbooks&hl=en

      • Thanks… the link took me to QuickBooks Mobile, a far inferior program based on the description of what can be done in the iPad version. QBM only lets you access customer related functions it seems, and not expenses or other fabulous things. Please, please correct me if I’m wrong, because I have an Android tablet. :(

    • mike Says:

Ya because you were too cheap to buy a tablet thats not a piece of CRAP! DUHH!! Hey Mario get an iPad and quit your whining!

Why would any company in their right mind develop for such an unstable platform as Android that has 800 different devices all with different hardware configurations which means the app always crashes on different devices and the users constantly complain?!

  2. Adam Says:

critical flaw! on the version for ipad i just downloaded. I tried to log in using the ‘email address’ that the box asked for instead of my (user ID) and it didnt work. When i entered my ‘user ID’ I was able to log in. the text in the login box needs to be changed to reflect the need for the ‘User ID;’ instead of the currently stated “Email address”

    • Kevin Says:

      Hey Adam,

Thanks for the feedback. We have also heard this from other small business owners and we are currently working to get this fixed. Sorry about the confusion but we hope our new native app for iPad is helping you stay productive on the go!

    • trodigy Says:

      Wouldn’t really say that’s a critical flaw!

    • jerry mcintyre Says:

Adam, thanks for the feedback, just had the same problem. Your solution worked. I wonder, do I dare delete the old app, or keep it as a backup. Thanks again for the fix

  3. Ben Dawson Says:

This APP is FANTASTIC!!!!! Love the features and the new APP. When you integrate the receive CC payments, it will be a smash hit….

  4. Beth Says:

Happy to see. But unless i’m missing something, you can’t see an employee data, only customer info.

    • Kevin Says:

      Hey Beth!

Thanks for your feedback. We look forward to pushing out more updates in the future that will continue to make QuickBooks Mobile a better app for you and your business!

  5. zac Says:

when will we be able to do banking on the IPAD? It would be nice to transfer money look at registers and also run reports. I would love to take a trip and not need my laptop.

    • Monte Says:

I agree with Zac, PLEASE give us access to bank registers!!!

    • jimed Says:

In fact, in the past you could access your register using the desktop version on ipad’s safari browser… now you cant even do that because intuit disabled that feature and it automatically transfers you to the mobile browser which does not allow access to registers… what is it with inuit and not allowing us to access our browser or use an ipad or iphone for the purpose of entering in banking data?

  6. Michael S. Says:

I havent tried it yet but does the App also include a link like the online version so customers can pay at their leisure online? Right now there is a button I click on th online version of quick-books that says “Let client pay online”; this would include a link. I would like to see that feature included if it’s not already there. Most of my clients are out of area so I can’t use GoPayment as efficiently.

    • Jan S Says:

I agree Michael, we too have downloaded the new app and it does not show our previous online link for the IPN, allowing customers to pay by clicking the invoice! This is huge to us and a great mistake on Intuit’s part to have not let this flow over!!! What can be done about this???

    • Kevin Says:

      Hey Michael,

Thanks for your feedback. Currently, our app does not have the feature that would allow clients to pay online. However, we look forward to pushing out more updates in the future that will continue to make QuickBooks Online for iPad a better app for you and your business!

      • Jan S Says:

That’s very strange, since previously the Ipad version did, so you upgrade it and now it does not??? We might as well go backwards and use the previous version???

        • Michael S. Says:

What previous iPad version are you referencing? This is a first. The other IOS app they had was limited to the iPhone and also did not include link to pay (I use GoPayment) It just would have made sense to include that.

          • Jan S Says:

We were using the app thru Apple and I’m pretty sure we had the link for IPN (Intuit Payment Network) to accept online payments still showing up. Now it does not, as you have stated. It will if we go thru the laptop/computer, but running on the fly with the Ipad, it will not show up. They really missed the ball on this one, since they are the ones selling the IPN product!!!

      • Michael S. Says:

Hopefully it’s on the high priority list because whats the point of sending invoices if the customer isn’t given a way to pay. Lets be serious, not many people send out checks anymore. They get an invoice, click a link, and pay online! That should have been a no brainer. It leave me no choice but to go back to my office on a regular computer and resend with a link because the site does not work with the iPad. It’s extremely limited. Right now all it’s good for is documentation and pre-invoicing… which I was able to do before this app. Nice thought but missing many KEY features. Bummer!

  7. Mikeemmalex1234 Says:

Bedeviled and bedamned cannot get anything to work. Help,

    • sherrieg3 Says:

      Hi Mikeemmalex1234,

Can you give me some more information in regards to what you’re having trouble with? Are you able to log in into the app? If so, what are you trying to do in the app when you have trouble?

      Thanks,

      Sherrie

  9. john Says:

You need a simple time entry app where all our employees can enter time without going to the QBO website. There are zero good options here.

    • Kevin Says:

      Hey John,

Thanks for your suggestion on time entry. Our team constantly tries to improve our product and values feedback from customers like you.

  10. Carolyn Says:

Does not have full capabilities like on a computer, need way more work!

  11. Darlene Says:

Without the ability to access the chart of accounts and enter banking info, this app is of no use to a bookkeeper using QB. I am really looking forward to upgrades with these options so I can use my iPad for data entry and checking.

    • jimed Says:

Intuit has their reasons for not allowing this. In the past you could use an ipad’s web browser and enter data into your register. now the web browser re-routes you to the mobile browser disabling access to the desktop version. why? we will never know, but intuit will say that they are making this better for you and your business. it is exactly the same reason why quickbooks has not been released as an ipad app. ridiculous.

  12. Mandy Says:

Was REALLY excited to download App. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t seem to do the things I regularly do on my computer; understanding that my iPad is more of a glorified phone than computer. Some of the features I am missing on the App are complete invoices. It cannot display billable expenses and charges (which is what pretty much all my invoices consist of) so the inovices aren’t really useful since I can’t see the itemizations. And I can’t sync or enter bank account info, or credit card charges, or enter bills. The app isn’t very useful from a bookkeeping standpoint. But, I look forward to upgrades in the future!

    • Kevin Says:

      Hey Mandy,

Thanks for trying out our app on the iPad and leaving us feedback! Many of the suggestions you list are things we have been hearing from other customers and we are working hard to get to many of them. We look forward to pushing out more updates in the future that will continue to make QuickBooks Mobile a better app for you and your business!

      • Ali Zaimi Says:

I’ve been hearing the same cliche responses like these for the better part of 2 years. These are basic functions of our customers. If you haven’t had time to create, then I suggest you offer beta version until fully functional app is ready to go

        • Kevin Says:

          Hey Ali,

Thanks for your feedback. I’m sorry that your experience with our app has been disappointing. Even though you may have heard some cliche responses, the QuickBooks team is diligently listening to all the reviews and commentary we get to make our apps better for small business owners like you. Thanks for trying out QuickBooks Online for iPad

  13. Amy Says:

How do I Instantly capture customer’s electronic signature to approve estimates and send invoices?

    • Kevin Says:

      Hey Amy,

Once you have created an estimate, open it and click on the “Status” button on the top right hand corner of the estimate. A drop down menu should appear and if you click “Get Signature” at the bottom of the list, you’ll be able to get your customer’s signature and convert it to an invoice!

Let me know if you have any more questions.

  14. I’m debating on getting an iPad or an iPad mini – which is better for the QuickBooks iPad app?

    • Kevin Says:

Our app works well for both the iPad and the iPad mini! However, it must run iOS 5.1 or later

      • I had an iPad mini for about a week and even purchased the new logitec keyboard with it. Although, I loved the compact features of the mini, I felt a full-size iPad would better suit my needs. I returned and exchanged. Very happy now.

  15. Ali Zaimi Says:

As usual, this app is a big disappointment. When creating a new estimate for an existing customer it does not allow you to edit the ‘ship to’ address. What gives?

  16. Sounds great. I am assuming

    1. The ipad needs to be online at the time of accepting payment

    2. This would not work on an iPhone 4S

Am I right on both of these counts?

  17. twajnertThomas wajnert Says:

Kevin needs to answer the question/need for bank register access

  18. Rick Says:

In a ideal world I would be able to do my running around for my business and when I make a purchase log it in from ipad or iphone along with a picture of the receipt. That simple thing would make all the difference in the world for functionality.

  19. App is cool but for it to be usable we need sales receipts, and the option of selecting the type of payment and what account to deposit it to, with this the app would be AWESOME, until then ill have to keep waiting :(

    • jerry mcintyre Says:

I have the same issue with the new ipad app. I drive a taxi and use quickbooks to track my sales receipts, Right now I am running both mobile apps and this is cumbersome and may be to expensive to continue. Please, we need sales receipts. To echo what Matias said, Sales Receipts would make this app Awesome….

  20. vps Says:

Hello! I really love this blog. Tell me please – from where do you have information for ths blog?

  21. jimed Says:

Why can we not access the desktop version using an iPad and Safari? (I know, we are working hard to make this better for you and your business.) WE WERE ABLE TO DO THIS in the past but INTUIT DISABLED THIS FUNCTION and now a mobile browser is directed to the app rather than the desktop version. Again, why?

  22. Vicky Cummins Says:

I am an employee who inputs my clock-in/out data. I cannot get the app to work. It says I don’t have a subscription. Is this because I am not an administrator? Please advise. It would be so nice to be able to do this on my phone. Thank you very much!

  23. watchingout Says:

I think Intuit isn’t being pressured by any competitors in this space, and figure most of their user base still has PCs, so aren’t putting much in the way of resources into it. This has been pretty obvious, first with the extremely limited mobile site, and now with the iPad app. I primarily use QBOE for banking and bookkeeping, not for managing customer info, so the app is next to useless for me. But they are improving, so just be patient – in 4 or 5 years, they might finally have a fully functional mobile solution!

(Contrast this with their efforts to make TurboTax available and useful on tablets and phones. Lots of investment there.)

  24. tlinamen Says:

I love that QBO for the iPad finally has given QBO attachment capability for expense transactions, however, the standard web version of QBO cannot see the attachment. Is the attachment being uploaded or kept locally on the iPad. Secondly, when will the web version of QBO allow for expense receipt attachment. I have been lobbying for this capability since I started using it. For a cloud based accounting program not to have this capability is sad, really. I know it is in Beta for invoices, estimates, etc. but it needs to be added to expenses!

  25. I love that I can use QBO online on my iPad, but it I can’t seem to find where I populate the custom fields I created such as Event Date, Due Date, Event Time etc. when creating estimates and then copying them over to invoices. I have no problem doing this online but the app doesn’t allow me to do this. Am i missing something?

  26. Wayne XXV Says:

Being limited mostly to customer transactions in this App would be tolerable (for now) if access to the full version hadn’t been redirected to the mobile version. I understand that redirecting on a phone-size screen, but why on an iPad?

  27. PAM Says:

I am a long time QB user, and I love it! But this app is such a disappointment! Compared to how incredible QB is, the app is just clunky and missing key elements that make QB so functional.
The app is WAY too simple, both in looks and usability.
If this app ever grows up and becomes a version closer to the pc software, I’ll be the first one in line…until then, no thank you.

  28. Barry Says:

I am considering converting to MAC when I upgrade to QBOnline 2013. I want to implement an iPad in the field but I have many questions before I make the investment.

    1. Does the app create invoices in the same template as the desktop software?
(I create custom estimate and invoice templates for my Contracting business)

    2. If the custom templates will populate in the app…can I print them from the iPad and they look the same?

    3. Can I cut a check from the App?

    4. Can I create an appt in the calendar from somewhere in the customer file? CRM critical

    5. Can I change the status of an estimate in the app? (Pending, Awarded, Closed)

  29. It’s awesome to go to see this site and reading the views of all friends on the topic of this paragraph, while I am also zealous of getting know-how.

  30. Jeff Michnal Says:

QBOL, I would suggest you get the team on top the app a little better and make the “updates” get moving along. This is a grand idea either released too soon or not thought through well enough in development. This app should be everything and more than the regular on line version. Don’t drop the ball here as people’s business are depending on your expertise !

  31. Michelle Says:

How about spending your development resources on the andriod and iphone apps so I can, oh I don’t know, maybe see my bank balances from my phone? The current phone app is useless for real small businesses and now so is the ipad app. I still have to log into the browser to see how much money I have!!!!
