Introducing a New Look and Customizable Menus
We’ve listened to your feedback, and we’ve created a new modern look and customizable menus for QuickBooks Online. These changes will be released soon, so here’s a sneak peek at what you will see.
New Look
The first thing you’ll notice is that QuickBooks Online has been refreshed with a clean streamlined look. Now you can focus on what’s most important – the work you’re doing. Here’s an example:
Customizable Menus
We’ve also created two-level, customizable menus to improve the way you get around in QuickBooks Online. This makes the most frequently-used menu items visible and easily accessible.
You can even choose which menu items are visible – simply click More, choose Rearrange Menu, and drag and drop the menu items in the order you want.
Check out how easy it is to customize menus in this short video:

[...] Online will be accessible on Safari 5.0.1 and Safari 4.1.1 with our upcoming August release. Safari 5.0 and 4.1 will still remain blocked. Safari users should upgrade to the new versions [...]
August 16, 2010 at 7:02 am
The new look is NOT preferable. The lack of color makes everything harder to see, especially in the Journal Entry page. I have adjusted my monitor, in fact, I have switched monitors and it doesn’t help. All I see is white and I can barely see the box lines. It would be nice to have some color for contrast!
August 19, 2010 at 11:25 am
I very much agree with Ashly’s comments above.
I am still very unhappy with the new changes to QBOE. Many pages appear very “washed out” and needs some background color to their registers, etc. Even after adjusting my monitors, QBOE is like a glare, very much unlike QB Pro or QB Premier. Intuit really needs to address this problem!
August 20, 2010 at 8:38 am
I agree with Ashly and Larry. The color is too washed out and therefore hard to follow. Distict lines and boxes keeps your info at eye glance.
August 20, 2010 at 9:42 am
I agree with everyone who does not like the new look. The dull white background is horrible and hard on the eyes to try to find things. At least make the wording and numbers BOLD black, and the highlight the background of the Bank Register. Please add color, makes work more inviting, and not boring. We need bold and color. Please change it.
August 20, 2010 at 10:15 am
What happened to the nice backgrounds and colors? Everything looks so pale and plain..it is very difficult to see in office flourescent lighting, too. I liked the “old” look much better.
August 20, 2010 at 11:27 am
Hated it!!!!!
August 20, 2010 at 11:29 am
It needs to be changed back to the old look. There are always all of these unnecessary changes being made to this site.
August 20, 2010 at 1:01 pm
I agree with all of you who do not like the new look. The new look is so bright. It reminds me of when someone takes your picture with a super bright flash then you look away and tried to focus on something in front of you. YOU CAN”T!!!!!! It is horrible with office lighting. For those of us who suffer with migraines….not a good thing.
August 20, 2010 at 2:35 pm
Sounds like I’m not the only one – pages are very washed out and difficult to look at for periods of time.
August 23, 2010 at 9:02 am
I do not like the new QB, please change it back!!!!!!
August 25, 2010 at 12:45 pm
I have to agree with Ashley here the white is hard on the eyes. Not sure who decided on the color but they must not do a lot of input. I also find that the auto fill that does not delete when you hit delete is a pain where the pill will not reach. Hope you take some of the old version back this is no fun.
September 2, 2010 at 8:46 am
I agree with Ashley comments above. The new look is too white and washed out and I can not find my templete or perfered list of items I saved.
September 20, 2010 at 1:07 pm
I agree…too much white…cant read anything
August 20, 2010 at 8:46 am
It appears that marketing has run amuck at Intuit, and someone has the notion that online edition QuickBooks users are all accessing QB via mobile device when not busy downloading apps from the Apple store and sprinting from client to client in 911 Turbo’s. I think it is true that these users may actually appreciate a new look and feel every three or four weeks. After all, the mental challenges of figuring out where the link that previously existed on the left side of the screen about half way to the bottom is now located is a welcome and entertaining break from non-stop tweeting and texting. But my small business bookkeepers – you know, the ones who lost jobs on assembly lines after 20 years of 3-to-11 shift work or were downsized at Walmart and then went to work at a minimum wage part-time job in a local small business after three or five courses in basic bookkeeping; the folks who still don’t really understand debits and credits even after a year of coursework at the local community college; you know, the original QuickBooks target market that represents the majority of the users who actually do all the unpleasant data entry bookkeeping work in these small businesses – can’t handle the constant changes. The resulting inefficiencies and errors just have to eventually whack OE’s market share.
We will remain thankful that the marketing department and power users can’t do the same non-stop destructive work on the disk-based editions. One has to worry, though, about Intuit’s future, when all the QB programs are hosted in the cloud and can be the target of continual meddling by the marketing folks and graphic deisgn team. These people seem to cast themselves in the role of the end user and have totally lost sight of the person who is actually out there using, with ever-increasing frustration, the product. I can only assume that Intuit was kind enough to hire the marketing team responsible for the design of Office 2007 after they had been relieved from their positions at Microsoft.
August 23, 2010 at 7:18 am
The new color scheme is dreadful. If this was intended to decrease eye-strain, it was tested by someone who doesn’t use the product. These sort of changes should be optional and user defined.
My clients HATE the change and are complaining to me constantly. You need to fix this ASAP!!
August 25, 2010 at 3:52 am
These new changes are not good. In a program such as this you should improve the capabilities, not just tweek the “look”. After being initially impressed with cloud computing I am quickly getting tired of the way Quickbooks online is always meddling in things that don’t need messed with. I am now reading all the instructions about switching back to desktop versions…seems like that process will be a pain in the neck too.
August 2, 2010 at 5:05 am
It looks good I hope it will not be as slow as the current one is.
August 2, 2010 at 6:33 am
Great! You have two major outages in the last quarter and your new inventory won’t let you check items in when they arrives nor will it let you account for backorders or partial ships…and you guys change the look? Awesome! Not!
August 2, 2010 at 7:39 am
I don’t have these choices? My top menu just has a straight drop down with no rearrange options, is it still rolling out?
August 2, 2010 at 8:14 am
It’s not out yet! It’s coming soon in a few weeks.
August 2, 2010 at 8:17 am
oh duh, I just re-read “released soon”
August 24, 2010 at 4:29 am
is it right that i am doing now

August 2, 2010 at 8:38 am
Will it work on my Ipad?
August 2, 2010 at 9:13 am
Unfortunately iPad will still not be supported for the full website version.
The mobile page will work as before.
August 2, 2010 at 12:22 pm
It’s important to me and I’m sure others also. The Ipad has replaced my laptop. If it is not supported soon, I will be looking for other solutions. The mobile page just does not cut it.
August 2, 2010 at 9:13 pm
Do you have any idea when Ipad will be supported for the full version
August 4, 2010 at 7:28 am
The mobile version is of no use to me. It has no functions that I actually need. The iPad did replace my laptop has you can see with many other comments here and it is important that you start supporting this device.
September 18, 2010 at 11:01 pm
What is the “mobile page” I’m hearing about? What functionality does it provide and how do I access it?
August 2, 2010 at 10:28 am
Any idea when iPad compatible version will be available?
August 2, 2010 at 11:01 am
dunno, long long long time
not enough user base or pressure to warrant working on it
August 2, 2010 at 1:17 pm
Priyajeet,
The QBO user base is sure to decline without such Ipad support.
Very unhappy,
Bob
August 2, 2010 at 1:37 pm
Pick up one of the other browsers for ipad (atomic) and it will load the full site.
August 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm
I myself would love to get it running on the iPad, but task is not so trivial.
Actually it is not a browser issue, and safari is pretty good anyways.
Right now, when I last tried it on the ipad, the 2 biggest issues were
1] popups, QBO relies heavily on popups. Mini interviews and such…all popups. Popup mechanism isn’t too nice for the ipad (or anything in todays world). You don’t want to be switching back and forth between popups. New stuff we are adding in QBO, like the homepage, all are popup free. Hopefully over time the existing popups would go away.
2] The drop down quickfills have an issue with touch. If it were a mouse they are all fine, but with touch its hard to use.
Those two are across the entire product and require quite a big investment imo to get everything on the iPad working.
bunch of talk here
https://intuitlabs.com/experiments/quickbooks-online-iphone
August 4, 2010 at 3:24 pm
I downloaded both atomic browers on my iPad. When I went to quickbooks online, an error message was displayed, “Sorry, QuickBooks Online doesn’t support your brower at this time.” But the site suggested two other browers, one Google Chrome, I downloaded Google Chrome on the iPad and when I went to Quickbooks online, had the same error message.
I really NEED to be able to use the iPad. Any suggestion that will not interfere with the security of the iPad?
August 2, 2010 at 10:49 am
The look is great, however, more needed would be charts and graphs online.
August 2, 2010 at 11:03 am
Will this apply to the find box too?
August 2, 2010 at 2:18 pm
Kinda the same as before.
http://quickbooksonline.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/screen-shot-2010-08-02-at-2-16-18-pm.png
There are few pages here and there that are still similar to old pages.
August 2, 2010 at 11:40 am
I would like to see wider fields for Class and Jobs and Account or perhaps smaller print – so we can see the entire account or Job or Class when looking at an invoice or a deposit. So many fields (Customer Name too) are to narrow. With Parent/child accounts especially, it is very difficult to see the Child account. Maybe have the child account only disply with the click of box (option)?
August 8, 2010 at 5:56 pm
This is VERY important to me too. With so much white space on a page, it would be nice to be able to read the entire account name. We use account numbers and Parent/Child accounts. It would be very useful to be able to read the Child account number and name. And it would be nice to have the option of larger fonts.
August 20, 2010 at 5:30 am
I TOTALLy agree. I’ve complained about this several times. It causes errors when you have to assume you have typed in the correct account number, (because you can’t see what you’ve typed in)only to find out later that it wasn’t. I also have asked to be able to add a column to the reconciliation screen. These are the types of improvements we need, not what we’re getting. I personally don’t care for the change in color, I want the old screen back, it’s better on my eyes.
August 2, 2010 at 1:00 pm
I need to be able to use QB on my iPad. What I can access on QB with the iPad is of almost no use to me. I need 6-12 months of customers invoice details, at least 60/90 days of bank transaction, 60/90 days of deposit detail, P&L and BS. Terribly disappointed QB is not even working on this.
August 2, 2010 at 1:33 pm
Will it work with Linux??? Congratulations. Keep working on appearance when I need it to be accessible from other Operating Systems.
August 2, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Some users are using linux http://community.intuit.com/posts/linux-users
August 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm
1. Please make it faster.
2. Please give me credits for the outages
August 2, 2010 at 3:43 pm
Is it going to work with the iPad now?
August 2, 2010 at 6:18 pm
Add the ability to pay others through QB Online — not just employees / tax agencies.
August 2, 2010 at 10:19 pm
Desktop QB products support third party interaction ( QuickBooks Web Connector Utility) but QB Online has yet to allow even basic third party interaction!!! Is this something that might be coming soon??? I’m trying to get my customer management software to interact with QB Online!!!
August 3, 2010 at 7:02 am
Thanks Demien for the comment. We certainly recognize that our customers use various software solutions and want them to work together. As we continue to investigate the best way to address this, could you please share which other solutions you are using? I want to get a sense of what the interaction points are – e.g. so far you mentioned customers.
August 10, 2010 at 9:40 am
This is the product I would like to get to interact with QB Online.
http://www.principalfocus.com/
Is their some kind of time line to make this possible??
Demien
August 5, 2010 at 3:30 pm
Isn’t it ironic that a *web* based product such as QuickBooks Online does not support QuickBooks _Web_ Connector Utility?
I second this request. Square integration would be awesome. FreshBooks is amazing as is LessAccounting with integration of third-party online parties. Oh, don’t get me started on how both have iPhone apps and not a silly mobile web page that is useless.
August 13, 2010 at 9:31 am
What customer management software do you use demien?
August 20, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Demien,
QBO does actually have a third party API that we support already, it is the same QB-SDK that is used for integrating with the desktop version. We are actually in the process of creating a much easier to use web-based API. I found this page via Google so I’m guess I can share it.

August 30, 2010 at 10:17 pm
I’m going to forward to my tech guy to see if he can make it work!!!
Awesome!!!

I have sent numerous suggestions for FUNCTIONAL improvements with NO RESPONSE, not even an acknowledgement of receipt.
Sent to https://sc.accounting.quickbooks.com/interested/interested.cfm?case_channel_id=12
– Write a single check w/o having to add new vendor (but keep track of payee)
– Get a vendor history directly from check register
– Lookup sorting doesn’t make sense: when writing checks, Customer names come up ahead of Vendor names when there are two similar names and you have to then manually seach for the vendor. WE DON’T WRITE MANY CHECKS TO *CUSTOMERS*.
– Need ability to permanantly EDIT a memorized report!!!!!!!
Altogether I think I have sent 20 suggestions that WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE YOUR SOFTWARE *BETTER* as opposed to prettier.
Could you please acknowledge?
August 3, 2010 at 12:44 pm
Here’s more suggestion:
– On registers, (like Quicken) remember User-Def Reusable Ref# Like: BILLPAY EFT ATM
– In Registers, allow sorting by Account, Payee
(Only show balance on Date Sorted Transactions)
– Online Banking, Transactions to Review, add a “Look Up” option for matching instead of Suggest.
– On Payroll History Report show the amount of the Direct Deposit rather than $0 (What a ridiculous oversight to show $0 for
– AUTO-RECONCILE $0 amt Direct Deposit Checks
– Allow more fine tuning on Security Settings: I need for employees to create or edit deposits while keeping them OUT of the registers (and many other such tasks)
– In payroll, Edit Employee, put the pay rate for PTO out there with all the other payrates! Or tie PTO payrate to Regular Hous Payrate.
– In payroll, add a way to pay liabilities such as insurance IN ADVANCE. A few liabilities have to be paid in advance, there’s workarounds, but kludgy.
Listen to your users sometimes ahead of your VP of Marketing. You want suggestions, TAKE THEM!!! If you get suggestions, thank the people who take their time to send them to you.
September 18, 2010 at 9:11 pm
its so good
August 3, 2010 at 2:10 pm
- Write checks directly from the Vendor List!
- “Find” Lookup default to ALL TRANSACTIONS rather than just Checks (the most useful option). We use Credit Card about as much as Checks and write both checks and CC to many vendors.
- Allow me to set report defaults for date ranges. For example, I need Vendor payment report to ALWAYS default to ALL DATES, we’re small and we pay very few vendors very often. There are many reports that I HAVE TO RUN TWICE EVERY TIME I RUN THEM BECAUSE I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE DEFAULT REPORT DATES.
- Need ability to print memo comments on check stub. Printing them on the check overwrites the bank routing number.
August 20, 2010 at 11:00 am
Thank you, Glenn. This is awesome feedback about changes we can make in the product to make it work better for you and other users. I can’t promise that we will or won’t work on any of these (as much as I would like to, we are under SEC restrictions about what we can and can’t share), but I can assure you that we have heard your message. In fact, it was the Director of Marketing who mailed me to make sure I took note of your feedback.
August 20, 2010 at 11:51 am
Thanks Glenn! Those are great feedback and we really appreciate it. I am sorry you didn’t get any acknowledgement for that. If you have anymore ideas please send them through this url: http://support.qbo.intuit.com/support/feedback.cfm
This is the correct feedback form which is monitored on a daily basis.
August 3, 2010 at 9:43 am
Its great that your always on top of your site trying to make improvements, however everytime you change something it seems to only make more work for me. I get used to doing things one way and the next time I log on it different. Different wouldn’t be bad if it made things easier!!!! Why don’t you offer updates for customers to download if they want a change?
August 4, 2010 at 5:42 am
I agree with Karen…Your updates or changes are not always for the best…Sometimes you need to leave well enough along.
August 3, 2010 at 10:44 am
I been requesting that the payments or deposits should show on the invoices for the last 5 years. I seen lots of improvements in many other areas but payment still dont show on invoices unless you crete a statement. Any update when this might be resolved. We have too much data attach to quickbooks online to switch to another provider.
August 3, 2010 at 6:31 pm
Will QBO be able to communicate with OnLine Customer Manager and online pay roll? This would bve a great help
August 3, 2010 at 6:37 pm
You people realize that the interface designers and the programmers are two separate groups, right? You can’t exactly sit the design and XHTML folks down and tell them to write new features into the back-end code that runs the site.
August 4, 2010 at 7:41 am
Since the very begining I asked, when will you provide the ability to insert lines in an estimate, or invoice? The response has always been “we are working on it” I am still waiting, please do something about this. My estimates require a lot of detailed description of products, or labor and some times a client calls to tell me to add more items to an area, this means I have to star copying lines and pasting in lower lines and so on!
PLEASE HELP!!
August 4, 2010 at 4:03 pm
The font is too small… do something… it’s hard to see
August 4, 2010 at 5:04 pm
The pics in the blog post are small, but the font should be similar to what we have today. Similar to this blog fonts. They too small?
http://quickbooksonline.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/checks.png
August 11, 2010 at 11:08 am
The font size on the printouts of reports are too small still. When you have a full spread sheet of data, it really makes it hard to read and work with. Can we not have a CHOICE as the size of the font on any reports???
August 11, 2010 at 11:47 am
At the moment its like http://quickbooksonline.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/photo.jpg
August 20, 2010 at 12:46 pm
Hi Marge,
We’ve been tracking this problem for a little while; it has been very difficult to debug. In this upcoming release (the one with the visual style changes) we put in what we hope is a fix for this problem. The Print button on reports will now open a new window with just the report on it. Printing from that window should print out with the normal font sizing. We copied the same type of experience you’ll see printing from other sites (i.e. Google Maps).
The one extra tidbit I’ll pass on is that this problem has only been reported on IE. If you use Firefox, Safari or Chrome, the font sizes when printing have always stayed the same. Yes, this is a blatant plug to get more users off of IE.
August 4, 2010 at 6:17 pm
I never had an issue with the look of Quick Books. What I have an issue with are the following:
- There is not a way to enter multiple bills on one screen
- There is no way to upload data from a spreadsheet easily
- My company uses many vendors and there is no efficient way to enter all of their charges, expenses, fees and have the charges flow onto a client’s invoice. I have to enter one vendor’s charges, check the bill to box, select the client and do the same process for the next vendor. Entering 100 different vendor charges to flow onto client’s invoices takes a long time.
I do like that my data is backed up on a secure server, otherwise I would not use this product.
August 20, 2010 at 1:59 pm
Vincent,
While QBO does not have any functionality to import a spreadsheet directly in the product, we do have a third party API and at least one company has created a product that does this:
http://www.baystateconsulting.com/products/01TxnWizardOE.htm
Please note that this isn’t an endorsement of this product. We are not affiliated with Bay State Consulting in any way, and I’ve never bought or used this software. I became aware of this software when I did a Follow-Me-Home with a local small business and I saw them using it.
When I googled around I found a couple other companies with similar products that imported spreadsheets into “QuickBooks”, but it wasn’t immediately obvious if they supported QBO. This app at least mentions us directly.
Tim.
August 4, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Payroll craters and y’all choose to focus on making it look stylish. Come on now. . . .
On the other hand, I’ve needed and received great customer support.
August 4, 2010 at 7:24 pm
And again…the interface people and the coding people are not the same. Would you like the designers to take a few months vacation while the coders fix everything to your liking?
August 5, 2010 at 4:15 am
When r putting back automatic finance charges?
August 5, 2010 at 10:01 am
i would like to be able to contact every or a group of customers by email as well as print a mail label for catalogs,
print shipping labels with choice of mail, ups, fedex.
import orders from e-commerce program to save re-keying
basically give us all the options of Quickbooks
August 5, 2010 at 9:19 pm
We really need to be able to either add fields or edit the names of the current fields in a Customer Record.
All fonts are too small to read easily.
We need to be able to increase the fonts that reports print out in.
Also need ability to arrange check register in date/order entered.
All these were available in the regular QB Pro Versions that we have used in the past.
Thanks
August 6, 2010 at 6:40 am
Note to QBOL VP(s): I notice fuddruckus and Priyajeet pretty much stopped responding and chose never to respond to posts asking for “new looks” that would really HELP your paying customers.
What business school would you attend that suggests ignoring (negative?) customer feedback? I don’t see how asking clearly for what I want is a bad thing from your point of view. I don’t see how responding to every single one of your customers could take more than an hour.
August 6, 2010 at 8:49 am
Well from my end, I can’t respond to every post ya know since I am a software engineer and have a day job of coding, fixing bugs
I only end up responding to those who I can confidently answer about something specific that I worked on or tried to work on.
But ignoring that, I can’t say that we are putting in feature X in, while ignoring feature Y for now and delaying feature Z because well, product management decides that and is beyond my scope to speculate on it.
And I am sure they are reading all posts and noting stuff down from here, from in product feedback, forums, other channels, surveys etc as to what all features people want and then grouping them with what is the most demanding or what is the most required, hence forth…like pretty much how any other product evolves. Takes time, makes some happy, other annoyed and some don’t care…
August 6, 2010 at 9:09 am
Thank you!
OK. What you are saying is that you are not management and don’t make decisions about the kinds of features that are listed here.
OK. Well, thanks for responding.
Yes, I hope prj. mgmt. is reading posts.
There are a lot of good ideas here.
Thanks!
August 6, 2010 at 9:31 am
yeah they are…
August 7, 2010 at 9:40 pm
Dear Sir,
I feel there should be facility to get statement of account from a particular date to particular date in addition to statement for Lat quarter,Last one year etc.
Example if we need to get a statment from 15 th of Feb’10 to 31st May’10 etc.
Thanks.
Best Regards,
August 8, 2010 at 10:23 am
So is there a Iphone/Ipad browser that does currently load the full site? I just tried Opera which was a no go…
Given some of the comments above – I would also like to ask Intuit if they are intentionally closing off such avenues?
August 9, 2010 at 6:26 am
Any updates as to when 3 checks per page will be supported? voucher checks don’t do me any good.
August 9, 2010 at 11:49 am
soooooooo NOW WHATS UP WITH THE LOGIN PAGE? Can no longer access the online QB with username & password and the help screen does not recognize username, password or email!
August 10, 2010 at 4:30 am
Login page keeps f’ing me in the A!!!! always something
August 10, 2010 at 12:05 pm
Your desktop products are awesome, way better than Simply, but your online site is still a work in progress. I’m surprised that with the manpower resources that Intuit has at its disposal that the online site has not matured more in the past five years.
There are still plenty of bugs, outages and weird problems, the unrecognized username and password being only the latest. The speed of the site remains far too slow and their are too many operational differences when compared with the desktop product.
My own opinion is that QB Online is to be used only as a last resort regardless of the pricing structure.
It’s really too bad, Intuit could develop QB online into a cutting edge technology that could pretty well wrap up the mobile community. I guess the investment required is predicted to be too high in relation to the expected return. Meantime, status quo just isn’t good enough.
August 10, 2010 at 4:22 pm
Well, luckly, I dont seem to be getting the problems others have, but I could do with a great deal more (SO CLOSE HOWEVER)!!!
I want to replace my contact manager software but this is feature poor for contacts (write a letter, mail merge, online marketing with swiftpage) and the to do list is lame. Calendar ?
Really REALLY also need iphone access WITH ESTMATES not just invoices.
When ???? For me too late, I need this like YESTERDAY !!
August 13, 2010 at 7:08 am
Think you made some errors.
1. each time I record a payment, after saving it, QB goes to “write check”, it should go back to “receive payment”.
2. in receive payment: after I type the persons name, hit enter, QB curser should go to the “amount” automatically, but it does not.
Also, in an old “off-line” version two keys pressed together would save the transaction. In the on line version, one must move the curser to the save button and click it. The “off-line” version is much faster. Would like to see this change also.

Your menus may be nice for some users, but your new font sizes stink! All the print size on all the screens is much smaller than the older version and very hard to read. Plus the coloring on the screens is fainter and harder to read. Where before you had colored bars separating the grid lines, now they are white. Is there a way for your users to customize that look or the screen font sizes?
Smaller font seems to be the new wave of the internet to make lots of things fit on one page. If this keeps up everyone that uses a computer will have need of glasses!
August 14, 2010 at 8:24 am
I see some other issues as well. I hate to have to post them in the blog here, but this upgrade conveniently occurred coming up on the weekend and no support is available.
If I go to the new customer center, select a customer, select “show all transactions” for “all dates” and it says “this customer has not transactions matching these filter settings”. Yes, just above that I can see an account balance, and I know there are invoices and payments that should be appearing.
August 16, 2010 at 7:54 am
Lack of a robust mobile version is a killer. I want to be able to enter transactions, attach a picture of a receipt that I took from my iphone to a transaction, see my budget and where I’m at with spending for the month, pay vendors, etc. Or at least make the full version work in my mobile browser so I can use the software on my iphone. If QB keeps ignoring the mobile world, I’m going to start ignoring them and look for another solution.
August 16, 2010 at 10:32 am
Regrettably, I have to second this. Come on Intuit!

What happened to my shortcuts menu with custom bookmarked items?
August 16, 2010 at 1:46 pm
Hate it! New color. TOO white. Hurts my eyes. Its slow. Its all bad, bad….
August 19, 2010 at 11:31 am
I agree with Lisa and with Ashly in a previous comment above.
I am still very unhappy with the new changes to QBOE. Many pages appear very “washed out” and needs some background color to their registers, etc. Even after adjusting my monitors, QBOE is like a glare, very much unlike QB Pro or QB Premier. Intuit really needs to address this problem!
August 17, 2010 at 7:29 am
I agree, it is TOO WHITE and I find it difficult to look at
August 17, 2010 at 7:38 am
Turn down the brightness on your monitor.
August 17, 2010 at 7:42 am
Or hey, Intuit: it’s a web page. Offer selectable color schemes. Include dimmer backgrounds, larger type for those with vision problems, and choices for the different types of color blindness. You know, the kind of stuff that’s easy to code and could be implemented within a matter of days, if not hours.
August 18, 2010 at 10:16 am
BTW, a general tip, not specifically related to QBO. You guys should try this – http://community.intuit.com/posts/turn-on-anti-aliasing-cleartype-smooth-edges-on-screen-fonts-for-your-lcd-monitors

I don’t care for the “New Look”. When making adjusting entries (especially with many multiple lines) having the “clean streamline” look makes it really hard to tell which row and column I’m in. And adjusting my monitor as suggested is not practical when I work with several different softwares. Also, the balance sheet, profit & loss and cash flow reports are aligned too far to the right margin and adjusting my printer margins does not fix it. I didn’t see what was wrong with the previous settings, as far as for what my above concerns are. Please change it back.
August 19, 2010 at 11:43 am
I agree with many other comments made above about too whitoo bright, te, too hard to read, need more background color, etc.
I am very unhappy with the new changes to QBOE. Many pages appear very “washed out” and needs some background color to their registers, etc. to make QBOE easier to read. Even after adjusting my monitors, QBOE pages are a glare, very much unlike QB Pro or QB Premier.
Intuit really needs to address this problem! I reported the QBOE problem to QBOE Support and was told to “adjust my monitors.” I did so and then negativily affected my other software programs! It is not a problem with my monitors problem but it rather a QBOE problem that Intuit needs to address and correct!
Intuit: please listen to your customers! Read the other comments above! Thank you.
August 20, 2010 at 4:57 am
What else can I say other than “NEW COKE”. Way too hard to read. The deposit screen is all white, just awful. Where are my shortcuts? I’m a long time user (since 2004). I suggest QB stop making non-requested “improvements” and focus on adding solid features (like ipad support).
August 20, 2010 at 5:45 am
too white, need some shading
August 20, 2010 at 7:56 am
Way to many clicks required to see the transactions for each client. The old view for client activity is easier and faster to use and get to the info that you need.
August 20, 2010 at 7:56 am
****************EMERGENCY**********************
My Purchase Orders will NOT print
First I get a message “insufficient data for image” if I click ok and try to print anyway I get “the document cannot be printed”
I tried an invoice and that printed
Please fix asap, I need to print off Purchase Orders today
(I tried on 2 different computers, can someone else try to print and post reply)
August 20, 2010 at 8:37 am
Hello!
All my transactions gone from the client center using Safari 5.0.1 or Firefox 3.6.8.
Simply UNUSABLE. Did you guys do any testing before the release…?
What more pressure do you guys need to push an iPad compatible version also?
I’m sorry not to cheer, but when things do not work… there’s no option.

I wondering who quicken is listening to? Leave it the way it was!!! Everything is pale, hard to read and confusing- and no I’m one that is computer savvy. Can you people not leave a good thing alone. You let us get use to one and then change it. There have bee a lot of good suggestions on reporting tools, and adding features. But please leave the fonts, screen color, drop down menu ALONE!!!
August 21, 2010 at 12:33 pm
There are no grid lines or boxes to work in. I can not make entries efficiently. This does not work.
August 21, 2010 at 12:45 pm
possible for you to take a screenshot and link it here? I am working on a mac as well as a windows 7 machine and I do see grid lines. Of course mac looks darker.

I like the old one.

I agree with everyone that it needs color….too washed out and hard to read
August 23, 2010 at 5:04 am
I have not gotten a reply on purchase order error, can anyone else not print a purchase order?
I guess I will call tech support….
August 23, 2010 at 8:00 am
Liked the old design much, much better. Please bring it back!
August 23, 2010 at 9:06 am
I DON’T LIKE NEW SIGHT.I FIND IT HARD TO READ WITHOUT COLOR.PLEASE GO BACK TO OLD DESIGN
August 23, 2010 at 11:00 am
Please do some fine-tuning on the reporting features. The larger font is much better, however please fix so columns of numbers align on decimal point.
August 23, 2010 at 12:07 pm
I do not like the new format of the QuickBooks invoices and sales receipts. How can we go back to the old version. My cinets need to be able to write a lot of detail in thier invoices and sales receipts (memo/descriptions) and the new version is not allowing this. If you are not going to make these changes please inform ASAP so w caan find a different software.
August 23, 2010 at 12:15 pm
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING THE USER TO CHANGE THE PAYMENT TYPE IN THE DEPOSITS SCREEN????? HATE THIS NEW FEATURE. PLEASE TAKE THIS FEATURE OFF THE DEPOSITS SCREEN!!!
August 23, 2010 at 1:22 pm
I absolutely hate it!!!! Older version was way more user friendly…please change it back ASAP
August 23, 2010 at 2:14 pm
I’m afraid I don’t like it as well as the old version. Difficult to read…too “white” and the font is quite small. I am also somewhat annoyed when I am entering data in “write check” or “credit card payments”, when I tab over to the amount field, it is not highlighted so I have to back space to delete the last amount. It would be more convenient to have it highlighted when you tab over so that you can keep the same amount (which is rare for me) or start to type a new amount thus deleting what is currently there. Otherwise, I love the program! Thanks for your efforts to update and upgrade!
August 23, 2010 at 2:50 pm
Please consider offering the option of changing font size on reports. Several months ago before the upgrade, the size was fine, then the upgrade and it was too small to read, now it is larger, easier to read however is “too large” for some of the reports I have to produce, causing some reports to go to multiple pages, which is a waste.
August 24, 2010 at 7:27 am
I hate it. I cannot get it to let me log-in so I can write my checks.
August 24, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Lynn – Please contact tech support. the log in should be working fine for customers. They can help you troubleshoot. Thanks!
August 24, 2010 at 1:33 pm
HATE the new look. Please add some color, it’s hard enough looking at the computer screen all day and now this?
August 24, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Why not have the option to use the old system or the new system? Too much trouble, hard to read. Leave what works alone.
August 24, 2010 at 11:56 pm
I need the software that links ecommerce (GoDaddy) to Quickbooks Pro to work with QBOnline Edition. Now that there is inventory on QBOE will the integration to ecommerce follow?
August 25, 2010 at 5:45 am
When logging into QB this morning I discovered all the new “improvements” and cannot agree more that this was a very bad decision. The new screens do look washed out and after only a little time on the system my eyes were feeling the strain of the too bright look. This improvement should be undone as the value of being able to customize sessions is not worth the problems we all seem to be experiencing.
If this is the way the system will be from now one, I will be searching for new accounting software.
I would like a follow up please!
August 25, 2010 at 7:31 am
Why does the login button not load half the time? Impossible to login unless you keep reloading the page until you’re lucky enough to get the login button to show up.
Font is too small.
Ridiculously S.L.O.W. to load a page.
After hitting save, you are not directed to a blank version of the page you were working on. Ex, after entering a payment and hitting save, a new, blank payment page used to load. Now it is bringing me to the homepage or worse, the login page. A real problem when the pages take so long to load and the log in button is missing,
Finally, why on earth would you get rid of the shortcut tab? You claim the new menus give us quicker access to the things we use most. Um, wouldn’t our shortcuts be the things we use most? And you took them away. Stupid.
August 25, 2010 at 8:58 am
I, too, have to say that I do not like the new color format. There is not enough contrast in the colors, which makes the register difficult to read. I agree with giving a choice of formats, and I would be one to choose the old format.
August 25, 2010 at 9:49 am
While the colors are here to remain for now, we are increasing the darkness on certain items for starters.
For example, fonts are getting a bit darker. Should help improve the contrast. You guys should definitely check out http://community.intuit.com/posts/turn-on-anti-aliasing-cleartype-smooth-edges-on-screen-fonts-for-your-lcd-monitors if this applies to you. This will further increase your font contrast, not just for QBO, but in general overall for your system.
Other stuff thats getting darker will be lines in transaction tables and other places where tables are involved. So the separation line will be darker.
Input boxes and text areas will have a more distinct border.
Make deposits screen is getting slightly tweaked to show table headers properly.
Checks background color will get a bit darker.
Those are from the top of my head and are scheduled for sometime next week.
More changes beyond that (if any, major or minor) will happen over time/weeks to come.
Also if you are using Google Chrome or Firefox or Safari, you will see a very few more effects (like glow on focused input fields) than if you were on IE. This is because some effects require CSS3 that is not in IE and won’t be till IE9.

I agree the changes are not at all “eye friendly.”
Please go back to the old QB.
August 25, 2010 at 12:02 pm
My suggestions:
1)Change the “Write Checks” tab in the “Banking” section to “Checks” and give that a drop-down screen with the options “Write Checks” and “Print Checks”. As it is now, “Print Checks” is part of the drop-down screen attached to the “More” tab, and that is neither intuitive or easy to use. Ditto the “Vendor” tab – Bills, Credits, and Pay Bills should be together under one tab.
2)On the “Write Checks” screen, tighten it up so that the blue buttons at the bottom (Save, Void, etc)can be seen without having to scroll down.
3)How about fixing bugs? When writing checks, Intuit has a nasty habit of deleting the check-mark in the “To be printed” box and assigning a check number instead – while I’m actually writing the check. QB shows that vendor paid, however no check was actually sent! Am I the only one having this problem?
4) I agree with other comments about the difficulty of visuals, glare, etc.
5) lastly, I DO like the option to do minor customizing of tabs.
August 25, 2010 at 12:09 pm
please listen to what Jan Hitchcock wrote! I also agree with those changes. I would also add to allow for more date entry on the invoices memo/description area (with the new changes you can only input one line for it to show up on the invoice otherwise it gets cut off). And I would also like the option taken ‘off’ on the Make Deposits screen where you can change the payment type…this could be very bad if the wrong person starts changing the payment types.
August 25, 2010 at 12:24 pm
If you all are taking suggestions can you please make it so when you tab over the field is highlighted for editing and you don’t have to backspace or double click and delete?
I would love to be able to insert a line on invoices, our items have to be in a specific order and if I skip something I either have to start over or copy and paste all the items down one line losing the prices I entered.
A big issue I have is when working in a report and I click on a line in the report to edit something the screen randomly goes to a different screen or if I’m entering payments received or bills after hitting save it goes somewhere else and I have to go back to enter bills or receive payments, its annoying when entering a lot of transactions.
Oh and I had to switch to old menus because the shortcuts tab is gone on the new menu.
August 26, 2010 at 9:21 pm
Completely agree with the need to insert a line.
August 25, 2010 at 12:32 pm
I am very unhappy with the changes. Since alot of my entry is recurring each month with slight changes to descriptions when inputting invoices it was much easier to cut and paste when the description would auto hi-lite. I also agree with so many others that it looks washed out with no color – Big glare!!!
August 25, 2010 at 12:40 pm
Kim, just an FYI -do you use a recurring invoice template? A lot of our invoicing is similar month to month and I use an invoice saved as an unscheduled transaction, it makes it a lot easier
August 25, 2010 at 1:40 pm
If you want to copy paste from one description field (or any field for that matter, on QBO or any website or even on your system) just focus on the field, CTRL (or CMD if you on a mac) + A to select all and then CTRL + C to copy (CTRL + X to cut) and CTRL + V to paste. CTRL + Z is undo on that field.
August 25, 2010 at 1:04 pm
Does anyone know where the shortcuts tab is located on the new menu???
August 25, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I don’t think there is one. I beleive that may be part of the purpose of the new changes to the menu but I don’t like it.
August 25, 2010 at 1:11 pm
Ugh – so, do we now have two or three steps to get to some report we use all the time? And… where do you open a new window from then?
August 25, 2010 at 1:18 pm
I have an “Accountants” tab that allows me the option to open a new window. You should also be able to switch to the old menus as well to get your old menus back. On my screen it is sort of grayd out up at the top next to the right of the tabs and says “switch to old menus”
August 25, 2010 at 1:24 pm
yes – I am doing that – for now, but am assuming they won’t have the “old version” available after a few months – so I need to figure it out.
I don’t have an “Accounts” tab… that is curious!
August 26, 2010 at 12:55 pm
I second that.
We need the shortcuts tab.
We need the open new window button
We need to be able to add our own shortcut buttons
August 26, 2010 at 8:49 am
I moved the memorized reports list to be the first item after clicking the reports tab… then when you clik the tab, it is your default screen – all my reports are there, just one clik farther then they used to be.
August 26, 2010 at 12:58 pm
Thats nice but in todays world the name of the game for web design is clean looks and fewest clicks to access the desired page.
This not only increases the clicking. If you are using a touch pad then you are sliding your finger all over the horizontal menu often to the more drop down which then gives you vertical nav anyways.
Thats totally Crazy to me
August 25, 2010 at 1:27 pm
Along with all the other complaints regarding the current “improvements” to the screen images, let me also add that the “Enter Bill” screen is terrible. The description field, which is likely to have the most or second most entry information, is now about an inch wide and requires the use of scroll arrows WITHIN the field to see the entire entry.
Please stop changing the screen iamges – I no sooner learn to adapt to a set of changes (usually that I don’t like) when someone at QBs in their infinite wisdom decides to change them AGAIN!
August 25, 2010 at 1:32 pm
I just discovered the “Write Check” screen is just like the “Enter Bill” screen I just wrote about.
I doubt my firm will choose to stop using QBOE any time soon but doing my work is apparently going to continue to get harder to do.
August 25, 2010 at 1:35 pm
I have to agree with most of the other comments regarding your new format.
Very difficult to read in the office setting with flourescent lights.
Everything looks unfinished.
August 25, 2010 at 1:53 pm
I have just spent the day on the new menu, It is very very hard on the eyes!
Please add some contrast to the pages, it really helps your eyes to have the contrast colors. Without the contrasting colors for each line when entering a large invoice it makes it very difficult to double check the lines for accuracy or just looking at it for research purposes
August 25, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Question about the login screen… We used to be able to tab from the user field to the password field then tab to the ‘submit button’ and hit enter – basically you could log-in without using the mouse – which as I am in the system multiple times a day was really nice.
With the new update, you have changed the order of progression for tabing through the fields, and I can no longer do this. I wonder, is this something that can be changed back in a future update?
August 26, 2010 at 8:01 pm
Tabbing thing will be fixed soon.

I can’t stand the new colorless format. Is QBO trying to lose customers? I won’t use them if things don’t change.
August 26, 2010 at 7:49 am
Hate the new look. Please change it back. Why don’t you address more important issues such as getting some useful payroll reports for example employee wage reports by state. The appearance was fine why not concentrate on substance!
August 26, 2010 at 1:00 pm
Agreed, stop trying to improve the look. Go back to what worked with your previous version.
Then focus on improving the actual software.
August 26, 2010 at 7:52 am
I have been tolerant of the continuous upgrades and even understanding of recent downtime..things happen. But I am not happy with this. The screen is washed out and hard to read. Was this tested in an office setting with real people who do this work all day? Immediate changes with color need to happen, then quit changing so often. We have work to do and tire easily of relearning how to simply write checks or post in the register.
August 26, 2010 at 11:56 am
Like others, I am having a very difficult time reading the new screens. They are way too light. Also, under the Banking menu, “Write Check” should really be “Write Checks” the way it was. Picky, I know, but I’m sensitive to changes. Seems like a lot of people are having a hard time with the light screens and I hope you make some adjustments soon.
Thanks
August 26, 2010 at 3:32 pm
As all previous users have pointed out & as I mentioned in the Case ID: 2131244 which I created via my QBOnline acct. – if this color scheme (lack thereof) does not change back to the way it was, I will be cancelling my subscription. My business has been a loyal user for many years, but this idiocy is the last straw. I have never seen an interface so poorly thought out. In one broad stroke QBOnline has alienated a core group of users. This is a classic example of how not to release new “features”
August 26, 2010 at 3:50 pm
Memorized Reports aren’t the same as Shortcuts. Many of us have duties for only certain areas of Quickbooks, and can use Shortcuts to quickly access our own most common reports, registers, entry screens etc. WHERE is the Shortcuts menu under the new Menus? How is scrolling horizontally across a menu faster than vertically? Two speed killers in my day. I quickly returned to the “old menus” and will not use the new ones until at least Shortcuts are available.
August 26, 2010 at 3:57 pm
New Home Page: “Messages and Tasks” section. What’s the point if the messages displayed don’t link to the full message, so you can see the simple one line message, but can’t open and read the content? Just a little bug? Nice.
August 26, 2010 at 4:49 pm
I’m not using the new menu at all. Most of the function I use are readily available on the old menu, and have disappeared on the new. My client that is on QuickBooks online keep calling me to ask where the functions they use went. I just tell them to switch back to the old menu, so please don’t take that option away.
Some of the missing links I used are:
Shortcuts tab
Recurring Templates are not available within the Member/Customer Center but a drop down option within Member/Customer Summary.
Edit Notes within the Member Center doesn’t work well.
Make deposits looks like it’s not loading completely.
August 26, 2010 at 4:50 pm
Hey all – we’ll be responding to this feedback in upcoming releases. The team is passionate about listening and understanding your questions and concerns. Thanks for noting them here, we’re definitely listening!
September 20, 2010 at 12:55 pm
Can you give us QBOE customers/users a timeline as to when the upcoming release will be coming out to correct this washed out look? It is tough working in QBOE these days with that colorless glare on checks, registers, etc. Timeline, please? Thank you.
August 26, 2010 at 9:09 pm
The new changes are not flowing. The Cusotmer Center is not user freindly. The pop-up “create invoice” option is not stable so I am opening up the estimate instead of applying it. It never has been easy to print a queue, I had to go to Help to find the new way. “Write Checks” and “Print Checks” should not have been seperated.
August 26, 2010 at 9:28 pm
One more thing, in “Recieve Payments” , could you please offer the option to click on the invoices that you want to be paid so that the amount it automatically added up in the amount box? I am only a human with limited adding and typing skills. I have had to adjust deposits several times because I accidentally inverted $369 to $396 or the like. This is embarrassing when we are notified of the wrong deposit from the bank through mail and others see my mistake before I do.
August 27, 2010 at 12:25 am
I find it incredibly frustrating to have to scroll up and down my products/services text box. I copy paste information on to this area and as it is now I cant see all the fields I have set up to fill out at the same time. This new feature is costing me valuable time. Is there a way to undo this setting?
August 27, 2010 at 1:11 am
Which product and services text box are you referring to?

I must again voice my dislike for the color background in the new up grade. This is very hard on the eyes even when you do the monitor adjustments they say. Our company requires a lot of description be entered in Invoice input and with the description block not clearing when highlighted has just added about 1 hour to the input time plus my nerves are shot from having to remember to back space through it all. Please listen to the users of your software and put back things that have been in your system for the last 15 years that we all enjoy and use.
August 27, 2010 at 7:37 pm
The new look is horrible, and it seems like I am not the only one who thinks so. It is totally washed out and hard to read. Please change it back! Also, the removal of the shortcut button from the menu makes the new menu useless (rearranging quickbooks standard menu items does not count as a substitute). It’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to use the new menu without the shortcut menu item. I’ll be using the old menus and hating the new, washed out look. I have been recommending quickbooks online to others. The new look is bad enough and hard enough to read, that I won’t recommend it anymore.
August 28, 2010 at 2:37 pm
I hate it, please go back to what we had before.
August 28, 2010 at 3:40 pm
I hate this and the new payroll system. So unuser friendly. I hate it, hate it, hate it.
I am seriously looking into other options. Intuit has really dropped the ball on this “so called upgrade”. It was just so they can charge more money for a product I don’t want. I shouldn’t be forced to upgrade to a new payroll system and forced to pay more, when I DON’T want it.
August 29, 2010 at 7:49 am
Adjusting Inventory
Function Requests:
Does anyone use QBO with more than 100 inventory items? We have over 1,000 and when I need to make inventory adjustments (count is wrong), I have to “MANUALLY” page down the item adjustment screen until I find the inventory item I need to update. This is archaic. QBO has so many great ‘type and fill-in’ fields, why isn’t this same functionality used here? (MYOB has had this functionality for years).
August 29, 2010 at 7:56 am
SLOW RESPONSE TIME??
I love that QBO takes care of backups and I can log onto it from anywhere. However, the response time is soooooo slow to become unusable. This is an accounting program and should not require complex graphics. My sales person has pulled out their hair waiting for responses. True, it can’t be as fast as their previous laptop based MYOB, but when you have to wait a few second between each character typed or click, it becomes unusable and very frustrating. When my Warehouse Manager take 20 minutes to adjust an invoice to send out a package, whereup before QBO it took him less than a minute .. my profit evaporate.
I’d love it to be zippy … but at least I need it to be functionally responsive.
Any update on when we will see a performance upgrade?
August 29, 2010 at 7:57 am
btw, I’m up at 1am putting orders in the system as I’m hoped it’d be a bit quicker. Still having response time issues ..
August 30, 2010 at 2:09 pm
I am so disappointed in the color of the screen I’ve been on it almost all afternoon and my eyes hurt. It’s too white and too stark. Not good at all. Then also I can’t print using the smaller fonts. One of the reports I run now takes 5 pages instead of 2. I don’t get it and do not understand what you are trying to accomplish in not allowing the system to print in small fonts. I’m very disappointed in the down time problems, the new screen and now the print problem. In the past year I’ve recommended QBO to 10 or so clients and I’m thinking we may have to have another software.
August 30, 2010 at 4:01 pm
I hate, hate the new look. Looks awful. Everything is so large that I have to use the scrowl bar to get from one side to the other. Can you please change back to the old way?
August 30, 2010 at 5:52 pm
Journal Report printing? Under the old style, month end Journal entries (under the Banking tab) would be saved and then you could print them out by n recalling them and then clicking on the Transaction Journal option under reports. If you first changed your printing preference to Landscape, they would print out as they appear in the Transaction Journal. Now, that has changed and they print out in Portrait and look terrible. I’m having to save them as an Excel and then print them. Why can’t there just be an easy way to Print the journal? Maybe there is and its not obvious.

New look? HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. My eyes are so tired at the end of the day from staring at a white screen all day, I should make you pay for new glasses. Try something useful like calculating finance charges without having to do it manually instead of worrying about colors, dropdown menus, member center (which I also don’t like). Fix what needs fixing before worrying about “Pretty”.
August 31, 2010 at 4:09 pm
Need more room for company content. lots of header room and lots of footer room. No room to see what is on my invoices.
September 1, 2010 at 12:37 pm
Oh my gosh, who looked at the finished product. The screen is horrible, can hardly see it and the place that you put info in too small. Hate hate hate it!!!!
September 2, 2010 at 4:48 pm
PLEASE get rid of (or make them optional) the scroll buttons I now need to click to view an item’s description. They make navigating around the receipt incredibly cumbersome.
September 4, 2010 at 9:08 am
I think the new style is bland. Not enough color. It would be nice to be able to customize it.
September 6, 2010 at 7:32 am
The “old look” was fine and it worked. The “new look” is visually aggravating-a total disaster! Will Intuit please pay attention to its customers’ comments on this blog and change it back? What were they thinking?
September 7, 2010 at 8:17 am
The new update is NOT system friendly, the white background is NOT easy to see and the menu is very confusing.
September 9, 2010 at 10:19 am
I really don’t like the new look. It is killing my eyes. There is not contrast and I have to hug the computer screen to make sure I am hitting the right lines in the forms, ie sales receipts.
Please go back to the old way.
September 9, 2010 at 10:24 am
When will we get rid of this new look. It has slowed me down in my work so much. I make alot of mistakes because I hit the wrong lines and it is causing a problem btw me and my coworkers who run reports and my info is off. Clean this mess up by going back to the old then leave it alone.

PLEASE RESTORE PAYROLL TO WHAT IT WAS PRIOR TO THE CHANGE!!! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO RUN A STAFFING COMPANY WHEN CERTAIN OPTIONS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE
September 15, 2010 at 3:17 pm
I don’t think anyone at Intuit is listening to us.
What prompted the change to Online Payroll, and why were you not able to fully convert our data? Why do we have to re-verify so much and make new choices?
I want the Payroll Liability Center back. It was very handy to easily see my holding account balances.
Why in the world can’t you remind me about garnishment/levy payment due dates? Big step backwards.
Why can’t you track my employer paid health insurance totals anymore?

I do not like the new “OH SO WHITE ” backround …please change to a shaded backround….. my eyes wont take much more…….nor will I
September 16, 2010 at 1:48 pm
Very unhappy with the new look. The stark whiteness is hard to look at and hurts the eyes when using the system for even a few minutes.

Adjusting Inventory
I had no comment on this, does this mean there are no inventory power users? Maybe thats why its low priority for QB to fix?? Replies?
Function Requests:
Does anyone use QBO with more than 100 inventory items? We have over 1,000 and when I need to make inventory adjustments (count is wrong), I have to “MANUALLY” page down the item adjustment screen until I find the inventory item I need to update. This is archaic. QBO has so many great ‘type and fill-in’ fields, why isn’t this same functionality used here? (MYOB has had this functionality for years).
September 20, 2010 at 1:40 am
The new QB online is not user friendly. The check numbers could could just come automatically basing on the last check entered. Now it seems not to be the same.On the register part u could use the calender to select the previous dates but now this doesn’t work.Consider this.
September 20, 2010 at 11:53 am
Lynn,
Sorry you’re running into problems. I’ve taken a look at both the registers and the Write Check form. Both seem to be updating my check numbers as I write new checks. Are you writing checks using different checking accounts? QuickBooks Online keeps separate check numbers for each account. Which browser version are you using?
Regarding registers, I’m a little curious regarding the problem you’re experiencing. Are you having problems selecting dates in the past to associate with a particular transaction or are you having problems changing dates of transactions that were entered in the past?
Any clarification you can provide will help me to help you.

I use QBOE for several clients with potentially more on the way very soon, but I am questioning if I want to continue with QBOE with the recent “improvements.”
I have asked this question before but get no response for Intuit…can you give us QBOE customers/users/ProAdvisors a timeline as to when the upcoming release will be coming out to correct this washed out look? It is tough working in QBOE these days with that colorless glare on checks, registers, etc. We have been told there is an upcoming release coming…Timeline, please? Thank you.

I’m STILL having the problem of the screen not staying in the activity I am working in. When I receive payments I receive a stack, I would like to receive them one after another, in a row. Instead after I click save the screen goes to “pay bills” or “customer list” or another random screen or even takes me to the log in screen! The same thing when I’m entering bills, I enter one after another but I have to keep going back to “enter bills”.
After creating a report if I click on something in the report to see the detail after I view the detail I’m kicked out of the report and taken to a random screen.
Please, I’ve asked numerous times to fix this, I really think you guys could figure it out because it wasn’t like this previously.
It sounds trivial but it’s REALLY annoying.
September 23, 2010 at 2:38 pm
I so agree with Debbieq. This to me is way more annoying than the color of the screen. I used to stay on the page of the activity I was working in and return to it after saving a transaction. Why am I being taken to some random page now? Even when clicking on the “return to pay bills” button, I am brought to some random screen. SO, SO annoying!! And yes, I’m on Safari, but this wasn’t happening before this “upgrade.” PLEASE can you fix this??
September 23, 2010 at 4:04 pm
Debbieq & Astrid: We are definitely aware of the problem. It seems to be caused by a recent change in Webkit (which both Safari and Chrome are based off of). We don’t see this problem in FireFox or Internet Explorer. We are trying to figure out what changed in Webkit and if this will be fixed in the near future, or if we need to create a work-around in our product that fixes the Webkit experience without breaking it in other browsers. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience while we work this out. In the meantime, if this is really frustrating you we recommend trying out the latest version of FireFox.
September 24, 2010 at 6:02 am
wow, I really, really wish someone had told me this sooner.
I prefer Chrome but will switch back to FF for QBs. Will save my sanity
(and please keep working on the fix and post or email when you get it corrected)
thanks-you don’t know how much easier you just made my job
September 24, 2010 at 11:17 am
Can you give us a timeline as to when the washed out appearance of QBOE will be corrected? We have been told in the next revision but…what does that mean? Can you give us an estimated date? Working in QBOE is tough these days with that glare of checks, forms, and registers! We need some background color in the forms and registers, such as a soft green. Timeline. please? Thank you for listening.
September 29, 2010 at 3:41 pm
You have really messed up payroll. Sorry, but whoever made these upgrades has never done payroll and did not know what they were doing. It is so screwed up now, not user friendly. The old system was much better. Why do you say “your information was transfered” when in fact it was not. I have to start all over and go through each employee, and I have a lot, and go to three windows to enter a new employee. Hate we bought it, didnt know we would be subjected to this.

I have tried to have you contact me this afternoon but with no avail. Quite frankly your support system sucks. You have no regard
for your clientele. You have no respect for your clientele. I have many questions and am have considerable problems with this new payroll system. I am extremely frustrated with the whole thing. I now know that no one gives a damn. I am going to post this in the blog area. Thanks for nothing. Go back to the old version.

Useful document! I’ll always be investigating again meant for deeper news.

Hi, just stumbled on your page from reddit. It’s not an article I would typically read, but I loved your perspective on it. Thanks for making a blog post worth reading!

This is an old blog post, UI has changed a bit since then. However menus still are the same as mentioned above.
