Mac users: QuickBooks Online is now usable on Safari 5.0.1 and Safari 4.1.1

Update August 10th:

Safari 5.0.1 and Safari 4.1.1 are now unblocked and QuickBooks Online should be usable on either one of them.

You will need to upgrade to these latest versions however, if you haven’t already done so. Links are below in case you missed them. If you encounter any issues, please report them to QuickBooks Online support.

Update July 28th:

Safari users should upgrade to the new versions below in time for our upcoming August release.

Safari 5.0.1 (for Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard)

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1070

Safari 4.1.1 (for Mac OS X Tiger)

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1069

Update July 27th:

Hi everyone — we know this isn’t ideal for Mac users who depend on Safari in your daily web lives. We feel your pain. That said, I’d like to explain a little more about why we currently aren’t supporting Safari 5 in QuickBooks Online.

Without any public beta or pre-release version from Apple, we were unable to test Safari 5 before it came out. Unfortunately, when Safari 5 was released we discovered a bug that made QuickBooks Online unsafe to use with Safari 5, and we blocked access to QuickBooks Online from this version to protect your data. (Later, when Apple released Safari 4.1 with the same bug, we blocked that version as well.)

Within hours of the discovery of this bug, our engineers reported it to Apple. The bug has already been fixed by Apple in WebKit, the engine on which Safari is built. Now we are all waiting on Apple to release an update to Safari that contains the fix. We can’t tell you how soon that will happen, because Apple hasn’t told us.

I know this is hard to hear, but please keep in mind that this is a bug in Safari, not a bug in QuickBooks Online. We’ve done everything possible to reach a speedy resolution, and we hope that the fix will be made available to you as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Firefox and Chrome are supported alternatives to Safari in OS X. I’ve heard from several of you that these browsers are giving you problems, and the best advice I can offer is to contact our Support team to discuss these issues. We have many, many users on these browsers in OS X who are not experiencing the problems that have been described here. But we can’t help you with these problems through comments on a blog — please reach out to our Support team for troubleshooting.

- QBO Dave

Update July 5th:
Safari 4.1 for Mac OS X Tiger is also having the issue listed and should not be used for the time being.

Update:
The bug in question – https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40367
This bug has been fixed in webkit by apple developers, however apple still needs to officially push out updates to Safari.
When this will happen is unknown since it’s in the hands of apple.

What is Webkit?
Wikipedia entry for webkit.
Webkit
is the underlying engine for Safari, and since this bug is in a very low level math operation in webkit, it is hard to get around it.
In Quickbooks Online this causes erroneous calculations related to money.
The issue is not with Quickbooks itself and can be reproduced as mentioned in the above mentioned bug link outside Quickbooks Online.

Original:
On June 7, Apple released version 5 of the Safari web browser. Safari 5 includes JavaScript performance improvements, a new Safari Reader feature, and the ability to choose Google, Yahoo! or Bing as the search engine for the Safari search box.

Unfortunately, during our early testing we discovered a bug in the new browser that causes some of our calculations to be off. Because of this, we haven’t yet allowed Safari 5 to log into QuickBooks Online. We have reported this bug to Apple, but we’re working hard to develop our own fixes so that you can be up and running with Safari 5 as soon as possible.

If you aren’t using Safari to access QuickBooks Online on your Mac, then this won’t affect you. If you are, you’ll need to take some specific steps until QuickBooks Online is enabled for Safari 5:

  • If you still have Safari 4 and would like to continue using Safari with QuickBooks Online, do not update to Safari 5 yet. We’ll let you know when access is enabled for Safari 5.
  • If you have already updated to Safari 5, you’ll need to use a different web browser to access QuickBooks Online. Both Firefox and Chrome work great!

We value the security and stability of QuickBooks Online as much as you do, which is why we are diligently testing. Once access is available for Safari 5 we will place an alert on your QuickBooks Online home page to let you know, so keep an eye out for it. Please stay tuned for updates.

  1. Matthew Says:

Please let me know when Safari is working. Thank you!

  2. Peter Says:

is there an update on when this will be working with Safari 5?

    • QBO Dave Says:

      Hi Peter,

Unfortunately, we don’t have an estimated date for enabling QuickBooks Online in Safari 5 at this time. Our engineers are continuing to seek workarounds for the math bug in Safari 5. As soon as a suitable fix is developed and tested, we will let you know here on the blog and by placing an alert on your QuickBooks Online home page.

  3. Naomi Says:

Firefox actually does not work very well for mac users as stated above. It is very slow and has trouble loading some of the icons.
Eagerly looking forward to being able to use Safari again.
Is it possible to downgrade back to Safari 4 just for this reason until the bug is fixed?

    • QBO Dave Says:

      Hi Naomi,

We want QuickBooks Online to provide an acceptable experience in all browsers, so if you’re having trouble with Firefox, I would urge you to contact the QBO Support team. They may know of solutions to the problems you’re having, and if not, they can send those issues on to the appropriate groups so we can take a closer look at them. You can reach QBO Support here: http://support.qbo.intuit.com/support.cfm

Another option would be to use Google Chrome for the time being. Many people feel that Chrome performs better than either Safari or Firefox.

There does not seem to be an Apple-approved method of downgrading from Safari 5 to Safari 4. Some people appear to be trashing the Safari app and various supporting files, then manually installing Safari 4, but I wouldn’t recommend trying this unless you (or your IT person) are able to troubleshoot any issues that may arise — QBO Support won’t be able to help with this if something goes wrong. You may want to call Apple Support and discuss this with them.

      • Dave Culp Says:

I love Chrome and use it everyday. However, I get a lot of ‘Oh Snap!” errors with Quickbooks online (Chrome 5.0.375.70 for Macintosh)

Do you have any advice for me? Thanks!

        • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Dave — that’s definitely something we’d like to look into. We’re not set up to do troubleshooting here on the blog, but you can use the link I posted above to contact QBO Support and they’ll be happy to help you find a solution to those errors.

        • Priyajeet Says:

Post about it on forums too…

And the top of my head –
Are you running any extensions? If so, try disabling them and seeing if problem persists. What pages in specific is that error coming or does it happen just randomly? Also try reinstalling flash plugin, it has in the past caused such crashes for me in general, not just in QBO.

    • Priyajeet Says:

Firefox should work well on the mac. As Dave mentioned, if Firefox is giving issues, you should contact support about it. Besides that you can also make a post about it on the QBO forums here
      http://community.intuit.com/category/quickbooks-online-plus

I personally use Google Chrome as my main browser on the mac with Firefox as the secondary. They both are great on all platforms.

      As for Safari 5 -

The bug has been fixed in webkit, but unsure how long it takes for apple to patch Safari 5 officially.

      Here is the bug btw
      https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40367

    • Thomas Joel Says:

Yes, Firefox is very sluggish and Chrome has situations were buttons don’t work. Saving the working Safari is necessary, or I will have buy a PC just to do my books.

  4. Priyajeet Says:

Safari 4.1 users should also refrain from using QBO on it. This bug applies to Safari 4.1 also.

  5. Gaige B Paulsen Says:

The Webkit bug referred to explicitly states that it is reproducable on the 32-bit version of Safari and not the 64-bit version. Any chance you’ll let us work with Safari if we’re using the 64-bit version (the vast majority of the intel machines that Apple has sold run the 64-bit version).

It’s getting to the point where we’re about to make a corporate decision to ditch payroll on Quicken due to a combination of slow movement on this issue, bad user interface design (the locking up my whole browser while I interact with you may work fine if you’re running windows and there’s a reasonable and accepted way to open up a second browser, but in the Mac world, this modality is totally unacceptable and foreign), and erratic behavior (evidence the recent service outages and the still-as-yet-uncertain migration situation).

What are we supposed to be doing about this?

And as one last question, your recent comments seem to indicate that you find it acceptable to wait for Apple to fix this. If Chrome were truly supported (I can’t do anything with my tax reporting to KY with Chrome Mac) or Firefox weren’t such a bad experience for Mac users, those would be acceptable solutions.

    • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Gaige — thanks for the feedback. We are looking into ways of enabling access in 64-bit versions of Safari. It’s a tricky problem, because the 32-bit and 64-bit versions return exactly the same version string; the Safari developers have chosen not to report this info. But we’re working on some alternatives, and I hope to have good news on that front for you soon.

As for waiting on Apple to fix the problem, it’s important to realize that the math bug in Safari affects nearly every major QBO feature. For us to rewrite and test that amount of code would take much longer than it will take Apple to release the fix.

Apple has already fixed this bug internally, so all that remains is for them to push a Safari update containing the fixed version of Webkit. They haven’t told us when this will happen, but we trust it will be soon.

  6. Christine Driessen Says:

This is rather unbeliveable that a major software like QBO, which my secretary and I use daily, would suddenly be out of commission for so long and QBO is simply waiting for Apple to do something. If we had known, we would not have switched to QBO. Please make more of an effort to find a solution. The solutions you offer are too complicated for us on MAC.

    • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Christine — I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, as much as we’d like to simply write around the Safari bug and get everything back to normal, it’s not feasible due to the scope of the problem. See my response to Gaige above for more on this.

If you’re finding the switch to Firefox or Chrome to be complicated, we can help! Please get in touch with our Support team at http://support.qbo.intuit.com/support.cfm and they’ll be happy to assist.

  7. It has been over a month now without access to qbo on my main computer and it is very difficult to use the laptop and no printer access. I am not sure if qbo has been working very hard at a fix for this??

    • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Michael — thanks for the comment. As mentioned above, this problem is so pervasive that it would take us far longer to fix the issue than it will take Apple to release the fix that they already have.

If you’re having problems using Firefox or Chrome on your main computer, please contact our Support team at http://support.qbo.intuit.com/support.cfm and they’ll be happy to help.

  8. Matt Harrold Says:

Chrome does not work as well as Safari. I get the stupid “Aw Snap” screen constantly when trying to access QBO. This has been going on for far too long. Emails to QBO tech go unanswered. I’m very disappointed in QBO and their inability to resolve this issue.

    • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Matt — sorry to hear you’re having trouble with Chrome. The “Oh Snap” error usually means that Chrome is having problems with a plug-in such as Flash. If this is happening on the QBO homepage, you could try removing the Snapshot module (which uses Flash) to see if that helps. When Chrome 6 is released, it will have a better mechanism for handling Flash that should alleviate this problem.

Our Support team never allows cases to go unanswered, so if your emails aren’t getting replies then they’re going to the wrong place. The best way to contact QBO Support is to submit a case at http://support.qbo.intuit.com/support.cfm . Please reach out to them through that page if you’d like help making Chrome work better with QBO.

      • Dave Says:

Please walk us through removal of Company Snapshot module? QBO help files only tell how to turn it on, not off. Thanks.

Is “reinstalling” Flash as easy as it sounds (go to Adobe page, press “install” button)? Or is it necessary to uninstall it first? Is there an uninstall app?

        Thanks!

        • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Dave — to remove the Snapshot, you would click the Customize button in the upper-right of the homepage, then go to the Snapshot module and click the red X in the corner. If you have any trouble doing this, please contact Support through the link above and they’ll be happy to help.

I don’t think there’s a need to uninstall or reinstall Flash; removing the Snapshot from the homepage will cause the homepage to stop loading the Flash plug-in. To add the Snapshot back to the homepage in the future, you would click the Customize button and add the module from the bar that appears along the top of the page.

      • Priyajeet Says:

Here is troubleshooting steps for Aw Snap in general
        http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=95669

Googling suggests lot of users get Awe Snaps due to a plugin failure. Most of the times being Flash. But can also be something else, or an Antivirus.

        http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=3b321fccbe754f96&hl=en
As they suggest here is to get flash 10.1

  9. Tim Says:

When a browser hits a web server, you can check the OS and OS version – If it’s Snow Leopard OSx 10.6.1 or better then Safari opens as 64 bit by default.

You can verify this on any Mac running Snow Leopard, open up safari, open activity monitor, and it will say Intel (64 Bit) on the far right.. JUST like mine does right this second.. no tweaking.

Lesson – If it’s a Mac w/Snow Leopard and Safari – Unless they ‘Get Info’ and force ‘Open 32 bit’, it’s running 64 bit.

    • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Tim — thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, we can’t make an assumption of that kind. Some people do force Safari into 32-bit mode in Snow Leopard (usually to get a 32-bit plug-in working). And since we can’t detect when a user has done this, we have no way to warn them.

If we permitted access to QBO from those browsers, the results to their QBO data could be catastrophic. We can’t allow that to happen, even if they represent a small fraction of our overall Safari user base.

As mentioned above, we are working on some alternative methods of determining browser version. If we find a way to safely allow access from 64-bit versions, we will. But we have to be 100% sure that versions of Safari containing this bug are blocked, to prevent corruption of QBO data.

  10. NT Says:

Astonished that this hasn’t been fixed yet. Very bad impression for first time user of QB Online.

  11. Joanne Says:

OH THANKS! (sarcastic here) The first I hear of this is AFTER I upgrade to Safari 5, so now, gee, I can’t access my quickbooks, I can’t pay my bills! Am I very happy? Did I need this??? I am so not impressed!

  12. Joan Says:

I am having trouble with QB online with my Mac. I downloaded Firefox and have no idea how to open QB in it.

    • Priyajeet Says:

What you download is a dmg file, opening that will show you the Firefox app which then you either drag to the Applications folder or wherever you want. Launch the Firefox app. It should be either in Applications folder or wherever you dragged it to.

Then just type in https://qbo.intuit.com in the url box

  13. Mark Elliott Says:

I too am frustrated beyond belief that QBO still isn’t working with Safari. I see that QBO Dave is being very apologetic for Intuit, but come on, it’s been way to long. The Chrome browser has at least let me get to my info, but it’s not as good as Safari and I too am getting the same Aw Snap messages also. Please hurry this up!
    Mark

  14. David Crawford Says:

SERIOUSLY!!!!! Did you like not know it was coming? I’ve had to change everything to work in Firefox. Frustrating!!!

  15. John Calsbeek Says:

Can you check if it works in the WebKit nightly? It should be fixed since r60990.

    http://nightly.webkit.org/

If so, it’d be great if you’d allow those of us who use the nightly builds to access QuickBooks.

  16. todd landon Says:

can i get credit on my bill for not being able to use safari?

  17. Michael Rasmussen Says:

Frustrated. When will Intuit truly support the Mac. I am frustrated with this half-hearted commitment.

  18. Tim Says:

The Firefox and Chrome solutions suck.. missing images, bad alignment, Chrome doesn’t fully submit forms half the time.. wtf? COMMON PEOPLE!

    • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Tim — what you’ve described is not the normal user experience in Chrome. Please contact QBO Support to discuss these problems. They may be able to resolve these issues immediately, and if not they will escalate your case. We are committed to providing full functionality in all browsers that we support. You can reach QBO support using any of the options on this page: http://support.qbo.intuit.com/support.cfm

      • Larissa C Says:

It is normal user experience in Chrome. I cannot use quickbooks on Chrome. It won’t save the information, I get that stupid “Aww Snap” message all the time!!! Fix it so it works on Safari!!!!

  19. John F Says:

I used to use Safari without problems, until I got this most recent error. I switched from Safari to Chrome, and Chrome won’t save, print, send, or preview invoices/receipts.

This is a big issue. I may have to switch back to MYOB for accounting and processing credit cards on our MAC system. What a disappointment.

  20. NT Says:

I would like to have my free trial period reset to start when Safari support finally arrives. All my work is done through Safari, and swapping browsers back and forth is just plain inconvenient.

  21. Chris Hulme Says:

This is the biggest hassle… someone should have resolved this by now… Firefox has caused my computer to crash twice since I downloaded it an hour ago… I think I lost all my work… and I can’t view PDF’s of estimates created in online QB with firefox… I’ve talked to our IT guy about reversing the safari update, but he said it would be a huge hassle. Thanks in advance to whoever is responsible for making this work smoothly… but in the meantime, I remain very unsatisfied with Quickbooks Online for not keeping up with the game. I can’t wait to find a solution that won’t require QB for tracking our finances for our company. The problem is my accountant doesn’t know anything else… Come on guys… this should have never happened in the first place if there was a good relationship between those updating safari and those making quickbooks work with safari… just my two cents on the whole thing…

  22. POA Says:

I can’t believe it has been over a month and half since Safari 5 came out and I’m still not able to use Quickbooks. Why did the developers of Quickbooks seem to have been caught by surprise by the new release of Safari? Why wasn’t there a notice telling Apple users not to upgrade in big bold letters? This is crazy. I’m feeling like because I use a Mac I’m being punished.

I’m really disappointed that I’m being forced to use Firefox when not all the reports within Quickbooks work with this browser. I can’t see any previous invoices in the member center without going to the member list (soon to be discontinued). What is wrong with this picture?

When will this be fixed? Where are the updates?

  23. Mark Elliott Says:

Just one last question. Is this frustration really getting passed on to upper management, or are you being tasked with just trying to keep us pacified. There is absolutely no reason that this hasn’t been fixed by now.
    Mark

  24. Gerald K Millheim Says:

I am totally frustrated with QBO. Your commitment to your Mac customers is very revealing i.e. you consider us second class customers. You talk of service but your actions tell a different story. By not updating QBO to Safari, you have complicated my daily workflow. I am really tired of it all. Come on, get your act together.

    Gerald

  25. Karl Lassiter Says:

Is anybody really putting pressure on Apple? if they have the fix, someone from QB should be leaning on them to get this out! I pay a a good fee for Qb on line and expect better service. Fire fox is not a great alternitive and causes too many problems. Maby you have a Apple contact that QB users could use to contact and complain to Apple to get there end done!!!

    Karl

  26. Priyajeet Says:

    Safari 5.0.1

Safari 4.1.1 (for Mac OS X Tiger)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1069

  27. Dave Says:

I downloaded and installed 5.0.1 for Mac, but the QB site still locks me out; won’t let me in via Safari. Please let us know when this changes? Thanks

    Dave

    • QBO Dave Says:

Hi Dave — we’ll definitely let everyone here know when Safari 5 is unblocked. It will take a bit of time, because we have to test QuickBooks Online with the new Safari update to confirm that the math issue is resolved and that no new issues have been introduced. Stay tuned; we’ll have an update for you soon.

  28. This really is beyond unacceptable! You are either lying or have no idea what is actually going on.

-If you were/are working with Apple you would know by now, in fact you would have know prior to the release if 5.0.1 was going to fix the “problem” and should have been prepared to remove the block upon its release. Or be prepared to make an announcement that Apple continues to ignore your pleads for help and moved on.

-Upon its release you should have worked non-stop the same day to determine if the problem has been fixed.

At this point its another example of Intuit screwing the Mac user just like the desktop version.

  29. M. Parish Says:

Well…..the required update has been out several days, I have been notified by QB online to update, I have done so…..and still I get your little blurb about soon soon soon i will be able to use Safari again!! I am sick of using Chrome and refuse to us the virus ridden Firefox. QB techs, get off your butts and get me back in business! I am paying for a service that works- not one that is crippled. I have struggled with your problem (which you blamed on apple) for months (except the three days you were down completely!!) and I cannot believe anyone can stay in business providing such poor service.

  30. Mike R Says:

I’m using 5.0.1, which you seem to imply will work (you ask us to “grab” it). However, I’m still unable to load the page.

    • Priyajeet Says:

Safari 5.0.1 and 4.1.1 will be hopefully usable with our August release, which will happen in less than a month.

  31. Eric P Says:

Less than a month?!? Are you kidding? This is outrageous! We need some real answers on when we will actually have our service up and running again. Alex R was right, you were down for three days, meaning three days my business was not growing, and now even after the release of the Safari fix you tell us a month?!? I can do my work on firefox, but it is much more cumbersome and I have yet to figure out how to make previews and printing work in it! I will begin shopping around for a replacement, one that does not scoff at its Mac users.

  32. NT Says:

Apple has fixed the bug that you claimed was the sole problem. I can understand a couple of days for quality assurance. Anything longer than that smack of incompetence and/or prevarication. So, which is it?

I was on my month’s free trial during this fiasco. I have not been able to use this service with my mainstream, standards-compliant browser of choice.

This does not bode well for my business application of your service. How can I have any confidence that I won’t face this kind of disruption in the future?

    • Priyajeet Says:

It is generally not an issue with Firefox or Chrome (or even IE) since we have access to pre-release versions. As mentioned in the blog post, we don’t know when Apple decides to release updates. Just like most of their other products, they are secretive, it’s their product, their rules. There is no public beta testing prior to a Safari release from Apple. You wake up one day and bam, a new Safari is out.

So all of our testing needs to happen after Safari is publicly released. Hence we are taking longer than we would normally do, to test this latest release. We are customers of Safari just as anyone else outside Apple is.

We do know that this release fixes the prior issue that got Safari blocked, thats why we are asking everyone to upgrade. But we also need to make sure that no new issue surfaces. Can’t really allow QBO on a browser now just assuming that it is all perfect, specially after the recent experience of how simple math failed on such a major browser and no one at Apple caught it before it’s release. If that issue or something similar was allowed there would have been tons of people complaining how their books are messed up.

We have an upcoming release in August, about a fortnight or so, and that is when Safari will be unblocked assuming no issues surface. We also think that Firefox and Chrome are very viable alternatives. Lot of users are using them on the mac without issues. I personally use them. If you having problems specific to them you should call intuit support and report it.

      • GPN Says:

For those that are curious, a fortnight = 14 days. Not sure why they wouldn’t just say that.

        • NT Says:

The programming guts of Safari (Webkit) are available in nightly builds free to all. (http://webkit.org/)

I’m sorry, your explanation just doesn’t wash.

          • QBO Dave Says:

Unfortunately, we can’t assume that Safari is released with an unaltered version of Webkit, just as we can’t assume that Safari is released without a major math bug. As Priyajeet mentioned, Apple doesn’t communicate any privileged information to us; we have no way of knowing what new bugs might have been introduced on the way from the Webkit nightlies to the released Safari product. We get exactly the same thing you do — a closed-source browser update on the day of its public release.

For that matter, we have to test all of Safari, not just the functionality provided by Webkit. The only way we can be sure the browser isn’t corrupting your data is to test everything in QuickBooks Online. It’s not just about proving that the known bug is fixed; we have to demonstrate that no new bugs have been introduced that would compromise your data.

Failure to do that would be far more disrespectful to our Safari users than asking you to use another browser until that testing is complete.

            • So then you are acknowledging that all along you have NOT been working with Apple to resolve the problem like your original posit indicated?

            • Gaige B Paulsen Says:

Whereas it might be true that you cannot do testing with Safari until it is released, the last time I checked both Safari and Chrome were using webkit.

Here in the world of software development, we have things called nightly builds and automated tests. They’re very effective in keeping an eye on things, and often you do them on code that you integrate either directly (as libraries) or indirectly (such as a browser).

By creating this kind of automated test environment, you can notice AHEAD OF TIME that there will be a problem and make some noise about it.

Generally speaking the folks out there in WebKit land are pretty responsive to getting things fixed, but only when they hear about them first.

I cannot imagine that anyone there actually gives two hoots about Mac users who are using Safari, and I for one am taking this lack of interest, good software development policy, and the hefty price increase and looking strongly for a new provider, or to just do it myself.

  33. Lame excuses providing further evidence of sub-par support by Intuit for Mac users.

Knowing that this is a MAJOR issue for Mac users Intuit should have had a army ready to test and deploy a release that removed the block.

  34. GPN Says:

A link to this Blog page used to appear on the “error – can’t log-in web page” but has been removed. Can it be put back?

  35. Hamazasb Says:

Everyone, if you enable the “Develop” tab on Safari, and then use the Safari 4.05 for Mac version, under “User Agent”, you can get 5.01 to work. I know it’s a pain in the a–, but I’ve been doing that from the beginning, and it at least lets you use the latest Safari version.

Hi Hamazasb — I recommend against doing this. Until our testing is complete, we don’t know if Apple has introduced any other bugs that could cause problems with QuickBooks Online data. If there does happen to be another math bug in 5.0.1 that causes transaction amounts to be incorrect, you could end up with bad data saved in your company.

We know it’s frustrating, but please realize that we’re not blocking Safari 5 arbitrarily; we’re blocking until we’re sure that you can use it safely, without risking invalid data in your books. Nobody likes having to switch browsers, but under the circumstances Firefox and Chrome are safer choices for QuickBooks Online until Safari 5 can be officially supported.

  36. Your marketing website still claims support for Safari. You may want to update this and let the world know you force Mac users to find an alternate browser.

“Minimum browser requirement: Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, Safari 3.1 for Mac, Chrome 3 or later for Windows, or Chrome 4 or later for Mac.”

Safari 5.0.1 should be accessible in about 3-4 days

  38. Priyajeet Says:

Safari 5.0.1 and Safari 4.1.1 are now unblocked and should be usable. You will need to upgrade to these latest versions if you haven’t already done so. Links are in the blog post in case you missed them. If you encounter any issues, please report it to QuickBooks Online support or post about it on the forums.

    Rejoice…

Thanks, Priyajeet! I’m a happy camper; thank you for all the help and advice. Hopefully, this won’t happen again when Safari 5.1 comes out. ;-)

I want to see just the credits that somehow had gotten into a vendor, and to pay bills they are automatically surfacing.

How do I go in and pull a report for just the credits that are available for a vendor, and be able to delete or change just like a bill?

  40. Rob Richmond Says:

The Safari updates might be out, however don’t print checks as they are off by a line or two. I had to go back into FireFox for my checks to print properly.

  41. Donald Says:

I have started using Quickbooks 10 for Mac. When I enter customer payment to an invoice for a book I have sold, the payment amount shows up in the checking as a 1) deposit and 2) as a payment I am making.

Clicking on the deposit line in checking takes me to the invoice. Clicking on the payment line takes me to the invoice payment window.

This is nuts. What is the deal?

  42. Donald Says:

Correction. Clicking on the payment line takes me to the invoice. Clicking on the deposit line takes me to the invoice payment window.

  43. Susan Says:

Hello! My Mac has Safari 4.1.3, and I can’t upgrade to 5 or higher… can I still use Quickbooks online?

    Thanks.
